SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE TOWN CLERK



  • Currently, Hall of Records building, 200 Orange Street, is CLOSED to the public. In-person absentee voting is NOT available at this time. The building re-open date is to be determined.
  • For the August 11th Presidential/State Primary, Secretary of State of Conn. (SOTS) will be mailing Absentee ballot applications to ALL registered voters within the Democratic and Republican parties only.
  • Absentee ballot applications are also available on our webpage under “Election Information” or Secretary of State (SOTS) website.
  • Overseas ballots are available only through the City Clerk office.
  • Notice of Primary will be available on our webpage under “Election Information” after July 7th.
  • Absentee ballots become available July 21, 2020. Please find key Election dates by clicking the election calendar link under “Election information”.

The Green Park Permit program has not been renewed

Green Park Permit

The Green Park Permit program has not been renewed for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2020.

Created several years ago as a short-term incentive program, the Green Park Permit was then an innovative way to affect carbon emissions at the local level. Since this time, global carbon emissions have only continued to rise, and transportation policies have expanded beyond personal vehicle emissions reduction as a primary strategy to combat climate change.

The City looks forward to working with our institutional partners and residents on finding increasingly impactful ways to mitigate the climate crisis.”

The City of New Haven Announces Wooster Square Monument Committee

June 29, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Today the City of New Haven announced that it will be forming a committee to formally decide what will succeed the Columbus statue at Wooster Square Park. This past Wednesday, the New Haven Parks Department removed the 4,000-pound bronze statue from its pedestal at the Wooster Square Park. The Christopher Columbus statue is being retained by the City after suffering multiple incidents of vandalism before its removal by the Parks Department. For historical preservation purposes, the City plans to maintain the base of the statue at Wooster Square Park, and the City is currently maintaining the Christopher Columbus statue in a secure location.

Mayor Elicker to Volunteer at Neighborhood Pop-Up Pantry
Providing Groceries for Up to 450 Families


NEW HAVEN, Conn.— Tomorrow New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker will join representatives from United Way of Greater New Haven, CT Food Bank, and Coordinated Food Assistance Network at a Neighborhood Pop-up Pantry that will provide groceries to feed up to 450 families. This Neighborhood Pop-up Pantry will increase the capacity of local pantry partners to meet the food needs of the New Haven community. As the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the economy, leaving many out of work or unable to make ends meet, United Way and its partners have stepped in to fill the gaps. Thursday’s event will provide close to 50 lbs. of food per family.

City of New Haven Tax Deferment Program

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On April 24, The City of New Haven adopted the Tax Deferral program for New Haven taxpayers. The City began collecting applications in May 2020 for the deferral program. Applications are due June 30, 2020 to the Office of Management and Budget via email or online or the Office of The Assessor, 165 Church Street, New Haven CT 06510. Please read the online application to see if you qualify for the deferral program.
